DTSG RELEASES RELEASES BECE RESULTS.


The result of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) conducted from June 05 to July 09 2023, in Delta State has been released.

A statement from the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro indicated that out of a total of 89,353 candidates that wrote the examination, 80,678 candidates representing 90% passed.

The statement further said that 6,713 candidates representing 8% were to resit either English Studies or Mathematics, while 616 candidates representing 1.0%  outrightly failed the examination and would repeat the class .

It urged  Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) in the 25 Local Government Areas to proceed to the Department of Examinations and Standards on Monday, July 31st to collect the scratch cards to enable candidates accessed their results.

The statement advised all resit candidates in both public and private schools to pay an enrolment fee of Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira (₦2,500) only, to enable them take the resit examinations that would be conducted on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

OGHORO TASKS CHILDREN TO BE RESPONSIBLE, SURPASS THEIR ROLE MODELS ACHIEVEMENTS.


The Permanent Secretary in the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro has admonished children to be responsible and strive not just to adopt their strategies of their role models but   to surpass their achievements in life .

Oghoro gave the advice in his office in Asaba when he received over 100 children, who were  delegates  of the 7th Didactic Young Stars Summit led by its Convener,  Mr. Eichie Stephen Oseiwe paid him a courtesy call.

He explained that the state government had arranged the academic calendar in such a way that after twelve to thirteen weeks, children could rest for a period of two to three weeks before resuming for the next term.

Oghoro, who said that Delta State Government had made it compulsory for every school to organise sporting activities between first and second term to engage the children, stress the need for them to belong to different clubs in the school that would impact on their lives.

He said that their participation in school club activities would enable them understand their environment and the society better .

The PS stated that it was important to expose the children early enough to leadership skills, adding that whenever the society got it right with the children, there would be no much leadership problems in Nigeria.

He described the theme of the summit: ' impact of extra curricular activities in the development of the child ' as apt and commended the organisers for their efforts in sustaining the summit since 2016.

He expressed the willingness of the Ministry to partner with the 7th Didactic Young Stars Summit.

Earlier, the Convener of 7th Didactic Young Stars Summit, Mr. Eichie said that as leaders of tomorrow, it was important to equip the children with the requisite  leadership skills, saying that they had trained them on social responsibility and self confidence.

Eichie stated that the group had taken up different topics on societal issue , noting that recently, they organised a programme on effects of child molestation.

GIRL SLUMPS AND DIED AFTER OVERNIGHT PARTY.

A young girl popularly known as Iyabo has slumped and died as she intend taking her bath at Urban Area in Sapele after overnight party.

It was gathered that she woke up supposedly hail and healthy this morning but suddenly slumped and died as she entered the bathroom to take her bath.

An anonymous source said Iyabo partied all night the day before but came home sober, she wondered what could have caused the sudden death as she did not show any sign of sickness the day before.

The girls mother popularly called Mama Iyabo is a well known Amala Ewedu food seller at Laboard road Sapele lamented the sudden demise of her daughter but took solace in Allah.

As at the time of filing this report, the deceased had been buried according to Muslim rite.

GROUP ADVISES DELTANS TO SUPPORT GOV.OBOREVWORI FOR GREATER DELTA STATE.

The President General of Urhobo Rebirth Congress , a k a ( Udu re' Urhobo) Comrade Stephen Ogheneochuko has advised Deltans to support the government of Rt Hon. elder Sheriff Oborevwori so that Delta State will continue to be a leading state in the country.

Comrade Ogheneochuko who addressed journalists in Warri Delta State, said a tree can not make a forest, thus the governor needed the support and prayers of all to achieve success at the end of his tenure for the good of all.

He congratulated the governor on his victory at the polls while appealing that he ( Governor Oborevwori should ensure only persons of proven characters with enviable track records of excellent achievements in the past are appointed into sensitive positions in the state.

He appealed to the Governor to employ more Urhobo teachers in all schools across primary schools in Delta central, revealing that such development will reactivate and bring to life, the Urhobo language which he claimed is gradually going into extinction.

The President General of Urhobo Rebirth Congress, advised the Governor further to use his good office in appointing an Urhobo person as the Commissioner in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism who could  use that vantage position in promoting the Urhobo culture and traditions, assuring that as a group, they will work assiduously with the governor to enable his government attain a lofty height.

He called on the leadership of the Umbrella body of the  entire Urhobos  Chief Barrister Eseoghene Gams and his executive officers to do all they could in ensuring the total unity and progress of the Urhobos whom he says are already fragmented due to politics. 

He appreciated them on the role they played to him during the time fire incident through gas explosion happened in his house which almost killed him. 

He continued, " Chief we were told that a new youth wing  of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) is in the offing. Please sir, there are many people who are hell bent on destroying the Urhobo nation. They are everywhere within the  Urhobo nation and outside. This is the reason why you must select men and women that have the Urhobo interest at heart" 

Ogheneochuko pleaded with the President General to make his choice from men and women of good characters but not from those that have interest for their pockets only, nor evil doers but only those that can work with him to liberate the Urhobo nation from the hands of the oppressors.

EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH SAPELE CELEBRATED JUBILEE IN GRAND STYLE.


Ebenezer Baptist Church Sapele achieved a milestone as she celebrated 50 years of existence on Saturday,  22 July at the Church Auditorium. 

The week long event started on Monday 16 July with Rally round major streets in Sapele to create awareness of the event. Members of the Church defy the heavy down pour of rain on the said day,and came out enmass for the rally.
The rally was followed by Free Medical services, lecture, and music fiesta within the week.

Saturday 22 July was the celebration proper as the Church was given birth to on 22 July, 1973.

The ceremony was graced with Goodwill messages from CAN, CCN, Bethel Baptist Church( The Mother Church), Beulah, Agape, Faith, First Baptist Church Abigborodo and others.

The message for the day was delivered by Rev. Dr Jonathan Iwhighwu, the President of Ethiope Delta Baptist Conference and he spoke on "Reflecting on the past, celebrating the present and embracing the future." 

Leaders of the Church that have gone to glory were remembered for their meritorious service to the growth of the Church in their time.
Awards were given to members that have been of immense support to the Church in the past 50 years, among these were Mr. Ovie Fred Okotie, Chief Gabriel Ofotokun, Chief Magistrate Dave Emakunu(rtd), Rev. Gideon Oyibo- and others.

Pioneer Members and Members that has been in the Church for 30 years and above were recognised.
In attendance were former Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rth Hon. Ovwhigho Igbuya, Dr Chokor, the Baptist Convention representative and Chairman Global Mission Board of the Nigeria Baptist Convention, Mrs. Emily Adejobi, Secretary of Friends of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Diaspora and others.

The Jubille celebration was rounded up on Sunday 23 July with  Thanksgiving in different dialect.

HON. PERKINS VISITS SAPELE VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER.

Member representing Sapele local government area in the Delta State House of Assembly, and Chief whip of the House, Hon. Okakuro, Perkins Awolowo has paid a courtesy visit to Sapele Vocational training centre promising to train 21 persons in differs trade for 6 months.

Hon. Perkins through his " Reach the People" programme pledge to partner with the centre as he promise to Carter for the training of 21 persons for the period of six months as a start, to make them self reliant and to alleviate poverty and crime in the society. 

Hon. Perkins said this is one of the many programmes he has lined up to reach the people in his constituency.

EBENEZER AT 5O: EBENEZER CAME OUT OF BETHEL DUE TO DISSATISFACTION, BUT CHURCHES THAT CAME OUT OF EBENEZER HAD BEEN OUT BY EXPANSION.

Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sapele came out of Bethel Baptist Church in 1973 due to dissatisfaction but Churches that have come out of Ebenezer thus far had been due to expansion.

This statement was made by the Pastor of the Church, Rev. Dr. S. O. T. Ajagbe at the anniversary celebration.

Speaking with the press, Ajagbe said all glory goes to God Almighty for the growth and progress of the Church in the pass 50 years.
It is not by power or by might but by His Grace-- he stated.

Rt. Hon. Ovwhigho Igbuya, former Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly added that his family join the church to thank God for the milestone as his Father came with the pioneer members to Nigeria Baptist Convention School (NBC), where the church started on 22 July 1973.
Igbuya said the growth of the Church over the years is due to the solid foundation laid at inception and going forward, he expect more growth in infrastructure, human capital development and in evangelism.

Rev. M. O. Abioye, the Church Music Minister said the Church called him in 2009 as Music Minister and he acted as Minister-in- charge from 2009 to 2013 when the Church Pastor was on study leave in the United Kingdom.
Abioye noted that when he resumed duty, the Church Auditorium was not completed and he ensure that the auditorium was completed and dedicated in 2011.
Abioye said his experience at Ebenezer since he came had been wonderful.

Chief Gabriel Ofotokun, former President General, Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), told newsmen that the Church is a great church that has produced great Men and Women from all work of life to the end that a diaspora arm has been formed that send assistance to the Church from time to time.
In the future, Ofotokun said the church has a large array of Youths and going by her solid foundation, he expect more growth due to evangelism, establishment of more churches and more infrastructure development.

DELTA SOLICITOR-GENERAL COMMENTS STAFF FOR COMMITMENT TO DUTY

The Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Delta State, Mr. Omamuzo Erebe has  commended staff of the Ministry of Justice for their  hard work and commitment to duty.

The Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary made this commendation  in his office on the occasion of his  birthday celebration.

Mr Erebe was surprised by the staff of the Ministry who thronged to his residence as early as 6am in the morning to wish him well. 

 Another set of staff also surprised the Solicitor-General when he resumed for work as the visibly elated Solicitor-General was short of words to explain the gesture from the staff. 

Erebe appreciated the Staffers of the Ministry of Justice whom he described  as some of the best workers in the State workforce owing to their resilience and commitment to work.

 He also assured them that he will continue to put in his best, particularly in the provision of staff welfare and training of staff. While appealing that they should continue to be of good behaviour and continue to show the same commitment to service at all times for the advancement of the Ministry and the overall growth of the Delta State civil service.

Mr Anthony Ogheneovo Orhororho, the Director of Public Prosecution in the Ministry who spoke on behalf of the entire staff  after leading in a short prayer for more life and prosperity for the Solicitor-General, pledged that the staff would continue to work assiduously  by exhibiting total commitment to duty at all time.

He assured the Solicitor-General that staff of the Ministry will not let the Government down but will continue to show their total commitment to the Sheriff Oborevwori led administration.

DELTA COURT CONVICTS MAN TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT, ANOTHER TO 15 YEARS FOR RAPE OFFENSES RESPECTIVELY.



The High Court of Justice, Delta State sitting at Asaba and presided over by Honourable Justice Onome Marshal-Umukoro, has convicted and sentenced a thirty-five year old man, Idris Hassan (m), to life imprisonment for the offence of rape. 

The Defendant was arraigned before the court on a one count charge of Rape, punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code Law Cap C21 Vol. 1 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006.

 The Defendant was alleged to have on 22nd day of August, 2022 had unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor aged 8years where the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecution led by Mrs Patricia Uche Akamagwuna, Director Sexual Offences, Domestic Violence and Childs’ Rights Unit in the Delta State Ministry of Justice, called six witnesses, and the tendered confessional statement of the Defendant. 

The prosecution told the court that the survivor was at home with her two elder siblings when the defendant, who is a gate man to their neighbour, lured her to come and “take biscuits”. When she got there, the defendant forced himself on her. The survivor’s neighbour caught the Defendant in the act and he was subsequently arrested by men of the Nigerian Police ‘B' Division, Asaba.

The defendant in his defence denied the charge and retracted the confessional statement stating that there was no sexual contact between him and the survivor.

Delivering his judgement, Honourable Justice Onome Marshal-Umukoro held that, he believed the evidence of the prosecution, and that the prosecution had proved their case beyond reasonable doubt.

 The court thereafter convicted and sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment

In a related development, another  High Court in Delta State, sitting at Kwale Criminal Division, with charge number HCK/31c/2022 between The State v. Peace Nigeria (first defendant) and Goodness Ezekiel (second defendant), presided over by Honourable Justice O F. Enenmo, on Wednesday, 11th day of July 2023, discharged and acquits the first defendant (Peace Nigeria) and sentenced the second defendant (Goodness Ezekiel) to fifteen (15) years imprisonment with hard labour for offence of rape.

The defendants were arraigned before the Kwale high court on the 7th day of September 2021. The first defendant, (Peace Nigeria) was arraigned on a three-count charge of, aiding, abetting and procuring another person to commit a felony to wit: rape contrary to section 4(3) and punishable under section 4(1) of the Violence against Persons Laws of Delta State 2020. 

The second defendant, (Goodness Ezekiel) was arraigned on a one count charge of rape punishable under section 4(1) of the Violence against Persons Laws of Delta State 2020. 

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge. 
The prosecution led by (Mrs) Ejovwokwe Arhuere Oghorodje, a Deputy Director in the Minisry of Justice, told the court that, the second defendant (Goodness Ezekiel) had carnal knowledge of the victim without her consent in the presence of the first defendant (Peace Nigeria) The prosecution prove his case by direct oral evidence of its four witnesses, and a confessional statements of the defendants and a medical report of the survivor admitted in this proceeding.

 The defendants gave evidence in defence of this case and did not call any witness in support of their case. 

The first defendant (Peace Nigeria) told the court that she knows the survivor, that she is her neighbour and that her father used to drive her out of the house because he cannot fend for her, that the survivor’s father asked her to be his girlfriend and she refused. That is why he connived with the daughter to frame her in this case. 

The second defendant (Goodness Ezekiel) told the court that, he knows the first defendant, (Peace Nigeria) who is his proposed fiancée, he denied his confessional extrajudicial statement.

 In cross examination, he admitted that, he had sexual intercourse with the survivor while his fiancée was asleep.   

Delivering his judgement, Hon Justice O. F. Enemo found the first defendant not guilty of the two-count charge brought against her. On the other hand, the second defendant (Goodness Ezekiel) was found guilty of the offence of rape contrary to section 3(1) and punishable under section 4(1) of the Violence against Persons Law of Delta State, 2020. 

The court thereafter sentenced the second defendant to fifteen years imprisonment with hard labour. 


Speaking to newsman after judgements,  Mrs. P. U. Akamagwuna Director sexual offences commended  the Judges for a well delivered judgements  stating that the ministry of justice will continue to uphold the zero-tolerance policy and continue the prosecution, naming and shaming of all sex offenders in the State and its territory.

The convicts Idris Hassan and Goodness Ezekiel have been registered in the Delta State sex offenders register and their details uploaded to the national database. 

This is in line with the provisions of the Violence Against Prohibition Persons Laws of Delta State, 2020.

CSACEFA STRENGTHENS COSs CAPACITY ON BUDGET TRACKING, ANALYSIS TOOL


The Civil Society Action Coalition Education for All (CSACEFA) has strengthened the capacity of Civil Society Organisations on budget tracking and analysis tools.

Speaking during an interactive session with members of CSACEFA and some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), the Delta State Coordinator of CSACEFA, Augusta Impact Keneboh said that it was necessary to understand the education budget for the overall benefits of the people.

Keneboh said that the objective of the training of its members and the CSOs was to strengthen their capacity to be able to carry out series of policies advocacies with the government and apply what they had learnt in the training while engaging governments on issues  concerning the budget for the  education sector.

She stated that after the training they would engage critical  stakeholders especially the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Economic Planning and the State Universal Basic Education Board to ascertain the level of the implementation of the budgetary provisions for the education sector.

The CSACEFA State Coordinator opined that government should carry  Communities along,   collaborate with the communities in the area of need assessment and project implementation in order to guarantee project sustainability.

Keneboh explained that there was need for more awareness creation for communities to be abreast with the budget for the education sector, adding that it was important for governments to make learning environment conducive and ,provide gender responsive ss well as infrastructural development.

She advocated gender sensitivity in project planning and implementation, stressing that in building projects such as classrooms,toilets, government should provide separate toilets for both males and females and take  into cognizance persons with disabilities.

Earlier, the Executive Director of Entrepreneurial Skills Initiative for Peace and Development (ESIPND),. Dr. (Mrs) Josephine Crossolale-Ovwido stated that the essence of the the training was for them to understand budget analysis for the education sector.

On his part, the resource person, Dr. Racheal  Misan-Ruppee described  the budget allocation over the years at the state and national level as low and advocated for increase to meet up the international agreement and government should adopt and show commitment  of 15-20%  of its budget to the  education sector .

Present at the training were led persons from various organisations including Afro Centre for Development, Peace and Justice (AFRODEP), Patmon Community Development Centre,  Entrepreneurship Skills Initiative for Peace and Development (ESIPND).

Others were Julie Austin Foundation, Monu Olarewaju Foundation (MOF) ,Hope for All Right Initiative, FAWEN and Fit Africa Development

OGEAH COMMENDS DTSG FOR TRANSFORMING EDUCATION SYSTEM, BAGS EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE MERIT AWARD

Delta State Government (DTSG) has been commended for its unwavering commitment to the transformation of the education system in the state.

The Principal of West End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, Mrs. Augusta Ogeah, gave the commendaton in Asaba shortly after receiving an award from the Anioma Community Newspaper, the Publishers of the Anioma News .

Mrs. Ogeah noted that the state government had performed well in providing conducive learning environment for students, but that more needed to be done .

She said that she was overwhelmed by the recognition of her efforts in improving the academic  standard of students of the various schools she was the head, including her present school, West End Mixed Secondary School.

While saying that West End Mixed Secondary had recently been adjudged as the only public secondary school among the best 30 public and private schools in the State, Mrs. Ogeah reiterated her resolve to impact more positively on the students and the school in general.

The orincipal appreciated Anioma Community Newspaper for finding her worthy of the honour, saying that her teachers had been very supportive by keying into her reforms to achieve positive results.

Mrs. Ogeah opined that teachers should embrace more of counseling of the children to mentor them on the Importance of taking their studies serious.

In their separate remarks, some of her colleagues, who spoke , including the Vice Principal (Academics), Mrs. Omodoro Gloria Oritseweyinmi; the Vice Principal (Administration), Mrs. Chinwe Chilaka; Mrs. Ashikodi Theresa, Mrs. Ike-Nwagwo and Mrs. Igbojinwaekwu Priscilla, described the principal as a mother. 

They said that the award was well deserved, considering her achievements in tackling social vices  among students, adding  that she always operated open door policy and carried them along in the scheme of things.

Presenting the award to the Principal, the publishers of the Anioma Community Newspaper, represented by Adoenu Comfort Egovin, said that the Excellent Performance Merit Award was in recognition of Mrs. Ogeah's outstanding contributions to the uplifting of the school and students at large as well as the overall development of humanity.

COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, DELTA STATE, VISIT SAPELE AREA COMMAND.

The New Commissioner of Police, Delta State has paid a courtesy visit to Sapele Area Command calling on all to join hands in policing the state.

The Commissioner of Police CP Wale Abass was at Sapele area Command on Thursday, 13 July to acquaint himself with his Command and the people of Sapele local government area.

He was receive by a mammoth crowd at the vicinity of the Area Command and given a warm welcome.

Earlier, in an introductory speech, the State Police Spokesman, Bright Edafe said CP Wale Abass is the 21st Police Commissioner to serve in Delta State after his amiable service in Benue State for a year and four months.

Edafe described the Commissioner as a Man that is open to all,  concerned about the welfare  of the Police Force under his Command as well as his assignment in the State. 

In his speech, CP Wale Abass, said Sapele Area Command is the first command he is visiting since assumption of office in the state.
He said he had planned to pay visit first to the command in Effurun but some how, Sapele became the first to visit.

CP Wale called on all to join hands with the Police force to keep the state safe and conducive for living and investment as the Police force needs their cooperation to effectively safe guard lives and properties.

He stated that the impact of such collaboration is that investors will be attracted to the state and everyone can sleep with "their two eyes closed"  at night or day.

CP Abass thanked the Traditional and Spiritual leaders present and called on their support to make the town and the state a safe heaven for all.

He ended his speech by saying " With the number and Calibre of persons I have seen here today to receive and welcome me, I am sure I am in safe hands and will get the cooperation of all" .

VIGILANTES GROUP PURGE ITSELF OF BAD EGGS IN SAPELE.

Unit 19 Vigilantes group at Ugberikoko Sapele has purged itself of a bad egg alledged to have stolen Three wraps of starch from a restaurant at Ugberikoko area in  the town.

An eye witness that pleaded anonymity testified that a member of the Vigilantes group in the area came to a restaurant with a wrap of starch to buy food, in the process of attending to him, he stole Three other wraps of starch and was caught but he escaped and ran away.
The issue was then reported to the Vigilantes commander in the area who traced and apprehended the culprit.

Commander Sule, in charge of Unit 19 at Ugberikoko told newsmen that when he got the news, he had to swing into action as the good name of the Vigilantes group is being dented by some bad eggs.

Sule said, though the offence looks small but it should not be mentioned among members of the vigilante group as there had been cases of petty stealing of this sort in the area and if action is not taken, people will begin to link these activities with members of the Vigilantes group.

Commander Sule thereafter de-robed the culprit by taking from him his vigilante uniform and informing the public that he is no longer one of them and should not be seen carrying out activities that pertain to the Vigilantes group.

Sule further said the disciplinary action is to also send signal to others in the group that the Vigilantes group will not tolerate criminality within it's rank.

SAPELE LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL LOSES HPM.

The death has been announced of the Head of Personnel Management( HPM) in Sapele local government Council, who died after a brief illness.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Victor Abugo, the executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Eugene Okpe Inoaghan said it is with sadness but gratitude to God that we announced the death of the Head of Personnel Management(HPM) to Sapele Local government, late Mr. Robinson Tuetue, whose death occurred on Wednesday 12 July , 2023 after a brief illness.

Inoaghan Described the late Mr. Robinson Tuetue as a friend and a Brother who was a very committed and dedicated senior staff of the Council and was highly supportive of his administration's achievements. 

The Council office wore a sad look on Wednesday 12 July when the news got to staff.

Activities for the day was low key and many described him as a Man that had high regards for staff welfare as well as a Father figure.

INOAGHAN ADVISED RESIDENTS TO REGISTER WITH DSP TO FACILITATE REFUSE DISPOSAL.

Chief Eugene Okpe Inoaghan, the executive Chairman, Sapele local government Council, has advised Sapele residents to register with DSP in their area to aid refuse disposal and check blockage of drains in Sapele town. 

Speaking through his supervisory councilor for Environment, Hon. Henry Abiyor,   during a drain clearing exercise In town, Inoaghan asked residents to register with DSP to ease the clearing of refuse from the town since the local government dump site is far from the town.

Hon. Abiyor noted that the Chairman has held series of meeting with residents at various times to intimate them on the need to patronise DSP so that refuse removed from drains do not find their way back to the drains and that the act of dumping refuse on water ways and drains under the pretence that the dump site is too far, can be a thing of the pass.

Similarly, Mr. Victor Abugo, Chief press Secretary to the  local government Chairman added that the clearing exercise is a continual one and Inoaghan   has been keen on cleanliness of the town since  his inception as the local government Chairman, and has given all his aide a matching order to ensure that all drains and water ways are cleared to avoid flood and diseases.

Abugo said every nooks and cranny in the town shall be attended to in this clearing exercise.

FUPRE-CDS HARPS ON ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION.


In a bid a bid to ensure environmental sustainability in project delivery and implementation, the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Centre for Sustainable Development (FUPRE-CSD) has interfaced with the leadership of Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking during the  kick off of the clean communities/zero pollution project visit to the Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area, Pastor Jude Chukwunwike by the Deputy Director of FUPRE-CSD, Dcn Okezi Odugala who represented the Centre Director, Dr. Emeka Elemike, lauded the council chairman for his effective leadership and good governance.

Dr. Elemike urged him to sustain the pace of development of the Local Government Area, adding that such initiatives at the local government level would bring about global impact that development partners usually envisaged.

He said that FUPRE-CSD was focus on the  implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ,termed Agenda 2030,Africa Union Agenda 2063 and the Federal, State and Local Government social contracts with citizens.

Dr. Elemike stated that FUPRE-CSD was established in 2021 as a special purpose vehicle for research, innovation and training on sustainability.

The FUPRE-CSD Centre Director stated that the campaign and intervention was geared towards creating awareness, training and empowerment programmes in different communities in the three Senatorial Districts of the State.

He noted that the activities of FUPRE-CSD included mapping, assessing and interrogating the socio-economic and environmental issues with a view to evaluating areas that needed immediate interventions .

Earlier, the Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area,  Pastor Jude Chukwunwike described the gesture as commendable, adding that sustainable development of the society was the responsibility of all individuals.

Pastor Chukwunwike said that his local aligns with the United Nations Agenda 2030 by  localising programmes and projects through effective need assessment to ensure that the people were carried along in the scheme of things during the implementation of the projects.

He described the council under his leadership as progressive, innovative and citizens needs driven and sustainability conscious.

Also speaking, the Technical Support/Consultant of FUPRE-CSD, Augusta Impact Keneboh spoke on the need for stakeholders to adopt the Sustainable Development Goals known as agenda 2030 by the United Nations which was marked annually on September 25.

Keneboh added that in line with the 17 SDGs, every local government had a critical role of engaging the citizens more on global goals, take actions together at the local level for global impact, thereby leaving no one behind which was the slogan of the SDGs.

The FUPRE-CSD team delegation that visited the council chairman included Dcn. Okezi Odugala, Augusta Impact Keneboh, who was one of the technical support member of FUPRE-CSD and Ikede Uzezi Godswill.

Highpoint of the event was the investiture of  Pastor Chukwunwike as an SDGs FUPRE-CSD Champion/Partner.

PREDICTION: NIGERIA WILL BE GREAT AGAIN-- PASTOR OGANA.

The Minister  in charge of the living Faith Church, aka Winner's Chapel Elume-Sapele, Branch Dr Ambrose Idowu Ogana JP, has predicted that  Nigeria as a Nation will be Great again.

Pastor Ogana who delivered his sermon in an open air Memorial Service  service he organized in his compound in honour of his late wife Mrs Doris Enyiere  Ogana said Nigerian citizens should not be discouraged by what is happening in the country at the moment .

He told the people that they should have confidence in Almighty God who created the nation and never to be dispelled.

Dr Ogana reminded the people who came from all works of life to attend the event that in the Bible, when the Israelites sin against God He turned His Back against them which led to their sufferings in the hands of their enemies.

He added that immediately they realized and repented from their evil ways and embrace God again, God visited them and their cry came to an abrupt end.

He advised Nigerians irrespective of their religious inclinations to retrace their steps and Come back to God in Obedience to His word.

According to the cleric, " except Nigerians forsake their sins, cry and pray fervently for forgiveness, the Nation can not know Peace. We must shun sins and iniquities in this land, embrace righteousness which is the surest ways for God to forgive us our sin so that His blessings would come upon us once again".

" Nigeria as a Nation is created by God, therefore no one should think he is greater than the country. Christians has a greater role to play in the Journey and rebirth of a New Nigeria,". He stated.

Pastor Ogana who is also the founder of the Ogana foundation, told journalists in an interview that even at death, he would for ever respect and honour his late wife who stood by him when the storm of life visited him .

" This event I put together is in honour of my late wife. I have vowed that at any children's day celebration in the country which was the day my wife died, I will always celebrate her by inviting children from all the schools in the area" 

He explained that his wife Mrs Doris Ogana was a virtuous woman whose sterling qualities could not be found in Many women , revealing that his wife contributed immensely to His success story today.


High points of the event was Bible quiz presentation by the children, dancing competition, presentation of gift items to all the children and a brief sermon by Pastor Ambrose Idowu Ogana, the Chief host.

Senator Ede Dafinone said he is senator for all irrespective of who voted for party A or party B, as he Pours Encomium on campaign team at his thanksgiving service.

A Church service was held at Praise Baptist Church, Sapele to mark the thanksgiving, and a grand reception followed afterwards at the Sapele Atlantic Club on 9 July.

Rev. Godspower Iweh,  in his message at the thanksgiving, read from 1 Cor. 15: 9-10 said " I am who I am by His grace, if you want to thank God, you must acknowledge his Grace. One of the response of Grace is to humble yourself. 
This is the conclusion of the matter, Fear God".

Speaking with newsmen at the occasion, Sen. Ede said this day belong to members of my campaign team, leaders of our great party who worked tirelessly for almost a period of one year.
He Specially thanked the Director General of his campaign team, Chief Bar. Adelabu Bodjor, and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, the leader of his Party in Delta State who by the grace of God has moulded the party to a formidable team. 

Speaking further, Ede said he belong to the Urhobo and to all in Delta Central Senatoral district irrespective of who voted for party A or party B, pointing out that his assignment is for the good people of Delta Central and promise to be accessible.

" As I take up the assignment, I take all the responsibility that goes with it to deliver the dividends of democracy to the great people of Delta Central.
I have the objective to touch and change the lives of many in Delta Central for the better as much as possible and will be accessible to all".

ASINI PROVIDES WATER, POWER SUPPLY TO UVWIE CIE'S OFFICE, COMMENDS EDUCATION PS.


The Chief Inspector of Education in charge of Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State,  Mrs. Asini Vera has provided water borehole and connected their field office with power supply.

Mrs. Asini , who made the disclosure   while speaking with newsmen   in Effurun  , commended the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro for his innovative ideas geared towards taking the Ministry to enviable height.

She attributed the success of the Ministry's workforce to the support of the Permanent Secretary.

She recalled that their field office was sharing fence with Our Lady's College, Effurun that was supplying the office of the Chief Inspector of Education with water and light before the school stopped the supply.

Mrs. Asini identified  high cost of shouldering the bill for the water and electricity supply by the school as the reason for the termination of the supply to them by the school.

The CIE explained that in a bid to make the place comfortable for her staff considering the fact that water and power supply were essential needs of every individual, she carried out the initiative with the cooperation of her staff .

She noted that conducive working environment would enhance productivity, adding that her staff should redouble their commitment to service delivery.

Mrs. Asini appreciated the management of Our Lady's College, Effurun for the period of time it rendered such assistance to the CIE's office and urged her staff to make good use of the borehole.

Some of her staff in the field office who spoke lauded her gesture and described Mrs. Asini as a team player and very accommodating woman.
