PRIMARY EDUCATION MINISTRY TO SUPPORT DSPHCDA IN HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS VACCINATION EXCERCISE...ASHIBOGWU.

Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu has assured the State Primary Health Care Development Agency of the Ministry's support at all times , especially in their Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination exercise that would commence on Monday, May 27, 2024 for the overall benefits of the state.

Dr. Ashibogwu gave the assurance in Asaba when the officials of the National Primary Health Care Agency, World Health Organization and Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency as well as UNICEF officials  paid him advocacy visit.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, the Commissioner described their initiative to flag off the vaccination on  the Children's Day as unique.

Dr. Ashibogwu encouraged parents to allow their girl child within the ages 9 years to 14 years to take the vaccine so as to avoid the challenges associated with cervical cancer in line with the guidelines of the health officials.

He said that as part of their collaboration,  the Ministry would would sensitize its officers in the local government to inform parents to get their children ready for the exercise.

Dr. Ashibogwu also told the delegation that the Ministry would give them access to schools to carry out the vaccination activity, stressing that the Ministry would ask its field officers to cooperate with the officials of the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency.

Earlier, the Executive Director of the Agency, Dr. Paul Yinkore said that the purpose of the advocacy visit was to  intimate him of the flag off of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine scheduled to hold on Monday, May 27, 2024.

Dr. Yinkore noted that the collaboration between the Primary Health Care Development Agency, Ministry of Health and the line Ministries had continued to produce results, adding that there was need to always work together and achieve a  common purpose.

OROJDE OF OKPE TEE OFF 5TH EDITION OF HIS GOLF TOURNAMENT, SPONSORED BY SEPLAT ENERGY PLC.


The 5th Edition Of the Orodje of Okpe Golf Tournament, Sponsored By Seplat Energy PLC was tee off by His Royal Highness, Major General Felix  Mujakperuo Agho(rtd), the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom.

The Tournament featured over 100 golfers from all over Nigeria, such as Port Harcourt, Asaba, Warri and others.

Speaking to the press at the occasion, His Royal Highness, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, noted that the tournament is one of the biggest golf event in Delta State.
The Orodje spoke highly of Seplat Energy continued support for the tournament and the community.

The tournament attracted a lot of persons to Sapele town, and featured golfers of all ages, the youngest was 12 years old and a pro veteran that attended was 82 years old and he still plays 18 holes regularly.

The prestigious annual event was held over the weekend at the Sapele Golf club which is the oldest golf course in Nigeria having been founded in 1897.

Also speaking at the event, Walter Egemba, General Manager( Engineering), Seplat Energy PLC, explained that the sponsorship of the tournament by Seplat Energy underscores the company 's commitment to community development and promoting healthy lifestyles through sports.

Walter added that the tournament is important to Seplat as the Okpe Kingdom host some of their infrastructure for oil and gas development and they pride themselves on having special relationship with the communities where they operate.

Walter equally noted that Seplat Energy have supported the  tournament from inception and they are committed in elevating it to an international Standard.

While expressing his gratitude, Alexander Verhees Fritz, Captain of the Sapele Athletic Club, said" This event is one of the biggest at our golf club. We are very proud to have Seplat Energy as the major sponsor, as they have supported the tournament from the start and we are pleased to see their continued support ".

Alexander added that one of the rationale behind the tournament is to encourage young people to play golf as there is no age limit when it comes to golf .

The tournament served as a platform to celebrate the rich culture of the Okpe Kingdom, and it is reputed as the biggest annual golf event in the South-South region of Nigeria.

Highlights of the event was the award of trophies and cash prizes to winners that range from seasoned golfers to beginners.

The competition saw fierce but friendly rivalry among Female and Male golfers.

PRIMARY SIX COGNITIVE PLACEMENT EXAMINATION HOLDS SATURDAY,MAY 25,2024.

The 2024 Cognitive/Placement Examination for public and private primary schools in Delta State will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

A statement from the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, on behalf of the Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu indicated that the examination would begin from 9.00am prompt.

The statement advised candidates to come to their examination centre with pen, HB pencil eraser, stressing that other writing materials would be given to them at their examination hall.

According to Mr. Oghoro, in the statement, parents and guardians are urged to ensure that their children and wards were in their various examination centres  as early as 8:30am  before the commencement of the examination at 9:am prompt.

It warned parents and guardians to distance themselves from the examination premises, noting that anyone found within the premises would be considered as an examination malpractice syndicate.

The statement reiterated that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education had put necessary measures in place to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.

It explained that the State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu and the Permanent Secretary would lead officials of the Ministry to monitor the conduct of the examination across the state.
