ABEKE LAUDS OBOREVWORI'S TRANSFORMATVE LEADERSHIP @TWO-YEARS

SAPELE—Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke, has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his remarkable achievements in infrastructural development, economic growth, and inclusive governance as he marks two years in office. 

Speaking during a media briefing in Sapele, Abeke highlighted the governor's commitment to the "MORE Agenda," which focuses on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.  He noted that Oborevwori's administration has significantly improved the quality of life for Deltans through strategic investments and policies. 

"Governor Oborevwori's leadership has brought unprecedented development to Delta State.  From the construction of critical infrastructure to the empowerment of our youth and women, his administration has touched every facet of our society," Abeke stated. 

Under Oborevwori's tenure, Delta State has witnessed the completion of over 513 road projects spanning approximately 1,500 kilometers, including major flyovers in Warri and Effurun constructed by Julius Berger  and the numerous projects in Sapele. These projects have enhanced connectivity and boosted economic activities across the state. 

In the education sector, the governor approved the recruitment of over 3,000 teaching and non-teaching staff to strengthen primary education  . Additionally, his administration disbursed bursaries to more than 60,000 tertiary students, demonstrating a commitment to human capital development. 

Healthcare has also seen significant improvements, with the upgrade of several general hospitals and the establishment of a new College of Health Technology at Ovrode  . These initiatives aim to enhance healthcare delivery and train more health professionals within the state. 

Oborevwori's administration has been recognized nationally, earning the "Governor of the Year 2024" award from ThisDay Newspaper and Arise Television for fiscal discipline and infrastructural development  . Notably, he achieved these milestones without borrowing from any financial institution, showcasing prudent financial management. 

In a move to support local governments, the state government guaranteed a N40 billion facility to offset pension arrears for local government retirees, alleviating financial burdens at the grassroots level  .

Abeke emphasized that Oborevwori's inclusive approach has fostered unity among Delta's diverse ethnic groups.  The governor's appointments reflect a balance among the state's ethnic nationalities, promoting equitable representation and participation in governance  .

As Delta State continues on this trajectory of growth and development, stakeholders like Abeke express optimism that the Oborevwori administration will sustain its momentum, delivering more dividends of democracy to the people.

CHILDREN'S DAY: ABEKE HOST SAPELE CHILDREN IN GRAND STYLE

The executive Chairman Sapele Local Government Council, Chief Bright Afure Abeke today 27 May 2025, host Children in Sapele in a grand style to mark this year's Children day celebration.

The occasion took place at the Sapele local government Group of Schools at Crudas road in Sapele.

Abeke made the occasion a memorable event by providing a life cow that was slaughtered to make refreshment available for the children.

There was abundance of food, drinks, small chops and others .

Creative entertainment were on ground with animated mascots, such as Micky Mouse and other favorite cartoon figures were showcased together with live band, to put smiles on the faces of children.

Welcoming the Council Boss to the occasion, Ms. Ese Reginal Aghworo, HOD, Education Department, Sapele Local Government Council, thanked the Chairman for his unwavering support for education , noting that his support in the area of subsidized Tuition fee and education materials has eased the burden on many parents in the school .

Aghworo ended her welcome speech by appealing for the continued support of the chairman to further uplift the standard of education in the school.

Responding, the Chairman, Sapele Local Government area Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke expressed delight  at being able to celebrate with the children on this special day set aside to celebrate Children .
Abeke also praised the Management of the Council Group of Schools for organizing the event , pointing out that Children's Day is more than just a celebration but a recognition of the Value, Potentials and Future Children holds.

Abeke promised to prioritize Education and Child welfare as he assured the Pupils of the school that his administration will ensure they are provided with all tools they need to succeed.

The Council Boss further stated that he hope to restore the traditional format of children's day celebration, when all schools will gather at the Stadium with March pass and other events.

Abeke said, he looked forward to collaborate with stakeholders and the Ministry of Education next year to bring this to pass, so that the excitement and unity that characterize Children's Day of old can be brought back.

Highlights of the occasion was the recreative activities by Children of the school, dance competition, entertainment by mascots and others.

It was noted by a parent that the day is not just a celebration but a clarion call for sustain action towards nurturing the future of our community and the Nation ---- The Children.

BRIGHT ABEKE FLAGS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF MOSQUITO TREATED NETS.

The Executive Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area Hon. Chief Bright Afure Abeke, ealier today Monday 26 May 2025, launched the distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets across the local government. 

The distribution of the Mosquito treated nets kicked off after the launching at designated points across the local government area, for  residents with pre-given net cards.

 At the flag-off ceremony held at the Sapele Council Secretariat, Abeke expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori , for prioritizing the well-being of Deltans through innovative health initiatives. 

Chief Abeke also expressed optimism that the treated nets would significantly reduce mortality rates, particularly among pregnant women, children under five, and adults, thereby fostering a healthy environment for all. 

Abeke reaffirmed the Governor administration's commitment to reducing the burden of malaria in the state, while ensuring universal health coverage in a cost-effective and sustainable manner. 

The highpoint of the symbolic ceremony was the decoration of the Sapele first lady,  Chief (Mrs.) Diana Bobolo Abeke  , wife of the Chairman as the  Net 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞  of Sapele Local Government Area.

In her Speech, Chief ( Mrs.) Abeke emphasized that the nets would go a long way in helping the Sapele people achieve their target of preventing malaria, a common yet devastating illness in Nigeria. 

Chief (Mrs) Abeke also commended the First Lady of the state, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori  for her tireless commitment to health intervention programs since the commencement of this dispensation.

 Dr. Eric Jarikre O. Executive Secretary, Medical Association, Delta State, assured a seamless distribution process, noting that the state had conducted a thorough house-to-house sharing of net cards. He also encouraged residents to pay proper attention as they are educated on how to make judicious use of the mosquito nets

  Dr. Jarikre stressed that malaria cases in hospitals far surpass those of other illnesses, underscoring the need for collective action. 

Other stakeholders present included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Dora Aweto, Council Secretary, Hon. Raymond Overah, Councillors, Supervisors, Health Personnel, wife of the commissioner of Environment, Mrs Ena Ejiro Jamani , Wife of the commissioner of Health, Mrs Bliss Onojame, Wife of the Commissioner for Higher Education,  Mrs Tonukari, political appointees and  community leaders.

ABEKE KICKS START DISTRIBUTION OF INSECTICIDE TREATED NETS CAMPAIGN IN SAPELE.


The executive Chairman Sapele Local Government area, Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke on Wednesday 30 April kick start the Mass distribution of insecticide treated net campaign 2025 at the local government Secretariat in Sapele.

Abeke received the team that will help to train officers who will be at the fore in the distribution of the insecticide treated nets to households in the local government area in due time.
The team was led by Mrs. Julia Bienose, the coordinator of the program in Sapele local government area.

Mrs. Bienose appreciated the Chairman for his support to make the exercise a reality and prayed for more of God's wisdom for the Council Boss.

Responding, Hon. Abeke advised Sapele residents to grab this opportunity by collecting the nets which is a step in the right direction in protecting households from malaria.

Abeke added that in consonance with the fight against malaria and other vices, the local government Council is doing his best by clearing and cleaning all drainages in Sapele and environ for free flow to eliminate mosquito larvae from all stagnant water.

Abeke promised to assist the distribution team in the exercise in any area they encounter a shortfall and admonished them to ensure all household in Sapele benefited from the exercise.

At the local government Secretariat, a large consignment of mosquito treated nets have been stocked for onward distribution to households.
