The executive Chairman Sapele Local Government area Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke today marks democracy day,( June 12) with a 13 Kilometres Road Walk in Sapele, tagged " Walk of Life".
The road walk was flagged off at the Sapele Main Stadium where residents gathered in their numbers to be part of the event as it kicked started with physical exercise.
Speaking with the press, Abeke said physical exercise reduces fatigue and stress related illnesses and regular exercise helps to elongate life span.
The 13 Kilometres road walk follows after the exercise session from the stadium to OKPE Grammar School and back through Okpe road to Olympia roundabout and terminated at the Council Secretariat at Yoruba road.
Security personnel from the Police, Army, the Navy, Para- Military personnel such as the Road safety, Vigilante, and others, participated in the road walk.
Ms. Endurance Ojokolo, former Olympic Gold Medalist in athletics equally graced the occasion, adding spice to the event.
The event came to an end at the Council Secretariat with another round of physical exercise led by the Council Chairman, Chief Bright Afure Abeke.
