FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH: Forum For African Women Education (FAWE) In Collaboration With Others Brings Medical Facilities To Oton

Forum For African Women Educationist (FAWE) and others brought free medical needs to residents of Oton in Sapele local government area on Saturday 25 October 2025.

The event that was hosted by Sapele Baptist Association, together with other partners such as Ministry of Health,  Family planning and Reproductive Services, Asaba, United Women Coordination Mechanism, Kings and Queen Helping Hands and Foundation, Sapele, FAWE and others.

Dr. Nyerovwo, Chairman Medical Fellowship, Sapele Baptist Association, in a media chat at the event said the outreach is essential to reach out to Sapele residents  of Oton in Sapele ( A Rural part) that are not able to afford medical needs and in the long run help to save lives.

Equipment such as Chest X- ray machine was made available, there was HIV/ AIDs Awareness lectures as well as HIV/AID screening, Lectures on reproductive health and others.

A lot of residents gathered at the venue of the outreach to benefit from the medical services.
Pastor Nicholas started the day with a devotion while the opening prayer was said by Rev. Princewill, the moderator of Sapele Baptist Association.

A lecture on reproductive health care was given by Mrs. Catherine Ologhejobi, Reproductive Health Supervisor, Sapele local government Council.
She emphasized the need for adequate spacing in Child birth and the necessity of having only the number of Children we can comfortably take care of, so that our offspring will become a blessing to society and not a problem.

About 500 persons were attended to during the outreach among which was Hon. Mrs. Etebefia Dora Aweto, Vice Chairman, Sapele Local Government area.

Mrs. Claria Ejenobo, one of the recipient of the outreach, expressed her thanks for the outreach.
She said herself and others in Oton community has need for medical services but due to lack of fund, they could not go to the hospital or health centers for medical attention, rather, they resort to herbal medication, but with today's outreach, she was able to do all the medical test she needed and was also attended to.

Mrs. Ochuko Edesiri said   she gained a lot from the lectures especially that of reproductive health care, that before now, she never thought of Child spacing in Child birth coupled with the idea of giving birth to the number of children that she could take care of.

Ochuko said her idea of child bearing was giving birth to a large number of children irrespective of whether she is able to Carter for them, for she believes God will take care of the children, that is why some children her named " Oghenevwiere".

She added the lecture has help to change her orientation in this direction.

Environmental Sanitation : ABEKE Hails Massive Support Of Residents On Exercise

The executive Chairman Sapele Local Government area Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke has hailed residents of Sapele local government area for their massive support in environmental Sanitation exercise every last Saturday of the Month.

Abeke stated this today, 25 October as he monitors the environmental Sanitation exercise in Sapele.
He expressed satisfaction at the compliance of residents to the exercise coupled with the restriction on vehicular movement within the hours of 7.00am to 10.00am.

As our correspondent went round town, it was observed that there was total compliance to the sanitation exercise declared by the local government Chairman in collaboration with the directive from the Delta State government.

There were check points at strategic areas of the town to enforce restriction on vehicular movement, there was also mobile Courts at Olympia roundabout and at Amukpe that tried few defaulters caught.

Some residents interviewed were full of praise for the diligence of the local government Chairman in ensuring that Sapele remain clean at all time.

Ogaga Osioma, a resident interviewed said he is not surprise at the Awards that keeps coming to the local government Chairman, because all can see that he is good at his work.

Ogaga said the recent Merit Glamour award for Exemplary leadership (LOGMA)that was given to Hon. Bright Afure Abeke is well deserved.

Osioma  added that the name of the Chairman has become synonymous with integrity, excellence and service and his inclusive leadership style have created new opportunities for the younger generation, thereby nurturing future leaders.

Success Omamie, another resident interviewed said Hon. Abeke has so far achieved unprecedented growth in Sapele that are visible to all, from rural development to social welfare programs that directly touched lives.

Success also extols his continued collaborative approach with the state and Federal bodies as well as private partners, and this approach has continue to attract positive attention and investment to the local government.

Success urge Hon. Abeke to continue the good work he is doing in Sapele local government area especially in keeping with the task of keeping Sapele clean and healthy and leave a " Foot print" behind, of a leader and his people striving together for a better tomorrow.
