The Orodje Okpe Kingdom, HRH ORHUE 1 CFR, MNI, Major Gen. Felix Mujakperue(rtd), in a groundbreaking ceremony, laid the Foundation for a Sub Palace in Sapele.
The Occasion Witness the gathering of Okpe Chiefs from all districts in the Okpe Kingdom, Sons and Daughters of Okpe Kingdom as well as Sapele residents.
The Occassion was a pointer to the fact that Sapele is Part of Okpe Kingdom under One King, the Orodje of Okpe.
Speaking with the press, Chief Godwin Atose, a one time Chairman, Sapele local government Area said the Foundation laying Ceremony for a befitting Sub Palace for the Orodje in Sapele had been a priority project of the present Orodje as his predecessor, HRH Usezi 1 and Osezi 11, Orhorho 1 used the buildings in the present vicinity as a Sub Palace to reach out to people in Sapele and had equally welcomed government Officials their days.
The present Orodje, HRH Felix Mujakperuo had envisaged a more befitting building as a Sub Palace and that is what is being actualize today.
Sapele is one of the 13 districts that made up the Okpe kingdom and the Kingdom encompasses Two local government --- Sapele and Okpe Local government Areas.
Okakuro Anthony Aghogho Owumi added that Sapele is an Okpe land with a Palace at Orerokpe and a Sub Palace in Sapele.
Chief Owumi said there is no discussion on Land in Sapele for Sapele is an Okpe land with One King, The Orodje of Okpe Kingdom.
A kingdom that covers Sapele and Okpe Local government area of Delta State.
The Orodje of Okpe Kingdom stressed that the Foundation laying Ceremony is not about a new Palace but the foundation laying of a befitting edifice as a Sub Palace in Sapele.
The Orodje pointed out that the buildings in the vicinity had been used by Orodjes before him as far back as the Colonial Era as a Sub Palace, tracing the used back to 3 Orodjes before him, and when he ascended the throne, he felt the building is not befitting enough and need to be worked on hence this Occasion for a befitting Structure, so it should be noted that the occasion is not the Foundation laying ceremony of a New Sub Palace, but that of a befitting Sub Palace.
The Orodje of Okpe, HRH Majakperue 1 added that the building is a symbol of Authority that Sapele land belongs to the Okpe people of Delta State.
Highlight of the Occasion was the Foundation laying, performed by the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRH Major General Felix Majakperue, (rtd) Orhue 1, ably assisted by Bishop Goddey Iboyi, General Overseer Promise Kingdom Assembly( a.k.a Overflow).
