Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sapele came out of Bethel Baptist Church in 1973 due to dissatisfaction but Churches that have come out of Ebenezer thus far had been due to expansion.
This statement was made by the Pastor of the Church, Rev. Dr. S. O. T. Ajagbe at the anniversary celebration.
Speaking with the press, Ajagbe said all glory goes to God Almighty for the growth and progress of the Church in the pass 50 years.
It is not by power or by might but by His Grace-- he stated.
Rt. Hon. Ovwhigho Igbuya, former Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly added that his family join the church to thank God for the milestone as his Father came with the pioneer members to Nigeria Baptist Convention School (NBC), where the church started on 22 July 1973.
Igbuya said the growth of the Church over the years is due to the solid foundation laid at inception and going forward, he expect more growth in infrastructure, human capital development and in evangelism.
Rev. M. O. Abioye, the Church Music Minister said the Church called him in 2009 as Music Minister and he acted as Minister-in- charge from 2009 to 2013 when the Church Pastor was on study leave in the United Kingdom.
Abioye noted that when he resumed duty, the Church Auditorium was not completed and he ensure that the auditorium was completed and dedicated in 2011.
Abioye said his experience at Ebenezer since he came had been wonderful.
Chief Gabriel Ofotokun, former President General, Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), told newsmen that the Church is a great church that has produced great Men and Women from all work of life to the end that a diaspora arm has been formed that send assistance to the Church from time to time.
In the future, Ofotokun said the church has a large array of Youths and going by her solid foundation, he expect more growth due to evangelism, establishment of more churches and more infrastructure development.
