POLIO AWARENESS CAMPAIGN: ROTARY CLUB SAPELE, SENSITIZED RESIDENTS ON POLIO DISEASE TO MARK WORLD POLIO DAY.


Rotary Clubs in Sapele comprises of Sapele Urban, Sapele Metropolitan, Sapele GRA, Sapele City Centre and others, came together to create awareness of Polio Disease and its effects on Children, with am awareness "Walk" through major Streets in Sapele to mark this year's  World Polio Day.

The rotarians appeal to residents to take advantage of the occassions of the World Polio day to get their children immunized against the Polio Disease.

Children in the age brackets of Zero to 5 years were encouraged to get vaccinated as a preventive measure against the Polio Disease. 

Members of the rotary club took the campaign to  major streets in Sapele, Urban Health Centres and the Central Hospital, Sapele.

Receiving club members at the Central Hospital Sapele, Matron Omoruwa Vivian, praised the rotary club for always being at the fore in promoting and educating the public against deadly health diseases and going further to proffer solutions to identified health issues that are of public concern.

She also noted that the club had in time past assisted in the renovation of health facilities at the Central Hospital Sapele and in other Urban Health Centres in Sapele local government area.

She prayed for more grace on the rotary club members to do more.

Also as part of the celebration of the World Polio day, the club embark on a Two day Family Health day, where free medical aid were given to residents.

Places visited were  Amukpe Motor park, Urban Health Centres and some schools.

While polio immunization is the pivot of the Family Health day, residents were attended to on other areas, such as checking for malaria fever, sugar level, Blood pressure, distribution of insecticide treated Nets and others.

Medical assistant were given to minor cases while cases with concern were referred to the Central Hospital Sapele.

In all, over 1,000 persons were attended to at the Central Hospital Sapele and the various Urban centres in Sapele local government area during the duration of the exercise.
