NATIONWIDE PROTEST; PROTEST GATHER STORM SAPELE.

Sequel to the call for a nation wide protest schedule to commence today 1 August, few protesters in SAPELE gathered at Olympia and as they move towards Amuogodo, the crowd gathered storm.

Vehicular movement was stopped by the protesters, asking everyone to join in the protest as the hunger is presently being felt by almost everyone.

At the Sapele main market, all shops were under lock and key as traders refuse to come for business for fear of looting and possible violence.

Unarmed security personnel were seen at every junction, patiently watching and alert to arrest any form of violence and breakdown of law and order.

At Olympia, before the protesters commence their protest, one of the organizers of the protest who refuse to give his name,  addressed those present to be peaceful in their conduct.
He asked all to shun any form of violence, breaking of stores and looting as they drive home their point in the course of the protest , stating that anyone found doing the opposite will be handed over to law enforcement agents on ground.

The protesters are mainly youths chanting and expressing their disappointment in the present hardship in the land with no hope of amelioration in sight as prices of foodstuffs and other commodities keep on increasing each breaking of the day..

The protesters called on the government to take drastic effort in cutting down their own overblown expenditures, reduce cost of commodities that affects the common man, such as Fuel, cooking Gas, Power, provision of road and repair of failed road portion and tackle INSECURITY, especially banditry and kidnapping.

It will be recalled that organizers of the protest went round major Markets and streets in SAPELE Metropolis yesterday, calling on all to join the protest, that it will be a peaceful protest.

As at the time of filing this report, the crowd are now at Amupke roundabout, with blockage of the major highway, and it has soared immensely.  Everyone had been peaceful so far.
