The diligence of the Sapele local government Chairman Hon. Bright Afure Abeke in ensuring that environmental Sanitation exercise holds once every month is consistently keeping Sapele clean.
The Sanitation exercise observed today is no difference as residents responded promptly in keeping their surroundings tidy, as it is gradually becoming a culture in Sapele local government area that every last Saturday of the month is for cleaning exercise.
There was restriction of vehicular movement for the hours of 7.00am to 10.00am except for those on essential duties.
As early as 6.00am, Monitoring teams comprising of Health workers and staff from the local government, Journalist, Bulldozers, Tipper trucks were assigned by the Secretary of the local government, Hon. Raymond Overah to various dump sites in Sapele Metropolis and environ to aid in evacuating refuse dumps.
At Poultry road, the dump sites were cleared and residents were aided in evacuating debris from their sanitation efforts in their surroundings.
A resident interviewed that gave his name as Desmond Omamoke praised the consistent efforts of the local government Chairman in ensuring that Sanitation exercise is observed monthly in Sapele, as the effort has consistently kept the town clean and tidy at all times.
James Omamode another resident commented that he always look forward to every last Saturday of the month as it has become his culture to set that day apart for cleaning both his environment and his home.
James gave kudos to Hon. Bright Afure Abeke for his diligence in making sure that Sapele local government area is clean at all time for cleanliness is next to Godliness.
Few defaulters were apprehended and asked to face the Sanitation Mobile Court at the local government Secretariat.
Moving round town, it was observed that all dump sites were attended to and cleared.
Worthy of notes are the dump sites along the ever busy New Ogorode road, OKPE Grammar School, Ojolu, Ireto road , Shell road, Sapele main Market, Major Bower area, Ogorode axis and others.
At the Sapele local government Secretariat, sanitation exercise was observed in and around the environment.
