Environmental Sanitation: Sapele Stood Still As Residents Complied


Sapele town stood still as residents complied to staying at home between the hours of 7.00am  to 10.00am and many were seen keeping their surroundings clean. 
There were minima vehicular movement and stores were closed during the hours of the exercise.

At Naval Barrack Ugbeyiyi, Naval personnel were seen clearing the grasses along their fence and inside the Barrack. 

Major dump sites were cleared along New Ogorode road, Ojolu, Ireto road, Okpe Grammar School, Amukpe and others. 

Darlinton Ogbodu  a resident interviewed said Sapele residents have imbibed sanitation  culture to the end that even without much prompting from official angles, resident came out in their numbers to keep their surroundings clean. 

Obehi Obodo another resident interviewed praised the Chairman, Sapele local government area, Hon. Bright Afure Abeke for his consistency in ensuring that the ideals of the monthly Sanitation exercise is always upheld so much so that residents have become used to the monthly exercise.
Obehi praised the local government for all efforts they put in keeping the local government area clean.

Health officials from Sapele local government Secretariat also went round town to monitor the sanitation exercise along with some Newsmen. 

Hon. Bright Abeke, executive Chairman, Sapele local government Area was also on ground to monitor the exercise.

Ikpigben Emerge Chairman At All Progressive People's Party (APC) Congress In Sapele


Francis Ikpigben emerge the Chairman of the All Progressive People's Party ( APC) in Sapele at the Congress held on Saturday 21st February 2026 at the Sapele township Stadium. 

The congress had in attendance, all ward Chairmen and their executives, Hon. Bright Abeke, Chairman Sapele local government Area, Former PDP State Chairman, Bar. Kingsley Esiso, Ejiro Jamani, Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Perkins Umukoro, Chief Whip, Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Austin Ayemidejor and others. 

The congress was conducted by APC returning Officer, Blessing Akamugbe and Representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC). 

Others that emerged were Ikomi Gbugbemi as Vice Chairman. 
Solomon Ofarn as Secretary, Omosuvie Henry as Assistant Secretary, Hero Asagba as Youth Leader and others. 

Speaking with the press after the congress, Sen. Ede Dafinone, Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District congratulated those that emerged as Local government leaders -- the grassroot and stressed that the congress was not about factional loyalty but about electoral values. 

Dafinone added that what took place was the sharing of power according to the strongest contender in every unit, and Ward. 

In the process, Party members were made to participate by engaging themselves in coming out with the strongest contender. 

Dafinone added that all will be carried along as it must be ONE United Party, for that is what everyone in APC Sapele local government Area, is working towards. 

Others interviewed praised the leadership and stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of the congress and sued for unity and inclusiveness for the Party to strive.

Francis Ikpigben speaking after emerging as Chairman said he promise to operate an inclusive government and work with all stakeholders to ensure landslide victory for the APC in the forth coming election in 2027.

Abeke Monitors Successful APC Ward Congress Across Sapele.

The Executive Chairman, Sapele  Local Government Council, Chief Hon Bright Afure Abeke on Wednesday, 18th February 2026, monitors the  All Progressives Congress - APC Ward Congress held in the  11 Federal wards in Sapele local government Area. 

The Congress, which witnessed the presence of party leaders, stakeholders, and members across the ward, was conducted in a peaceful and orderly atmosphere. 

APC Stalwarts in Sapele were seen in their respective wards at the grassroot during the congress, among whom were Sen. Ede Dafinone, Senator representing Delta Central, Hon. Austin Ayemidejor, Special adviser to the Delta State Governor on Aviation and Transport,  Hon. Eugene Inoaghan, immediate Past Chairman Sapele local government Area,  Hon. Ejiro Jamani, Commissioner for Environment,  Hon.Benson Okorodudu, and others.

Outcome of the congress saw Hon. Rex Ogbakpa  as Chairman ward 2,  
Mr. Ekene as  Chairman Ward 3, 
Mr. Amadi Onoriode emerged as
Chairman Ward 4, 
Hon. Ovo Abeke emerged as ward 7 Chairman, 
Mr Otuku Derick as Chairman Ward 9, amongst other wards Chairmen, with their respective Executive members.

Chief Abeke  commended party members for their maturity, unity, and peaceful disposition throughout the Congress across the local government area. He described the successful conduct of the exercise as a demonstration of the strength, unity, and internal democracy within the APC family in Sapele LGA,
Pointing out that the peaceful atmosphere recorded during the Congress further affirms that the APC in Sapele LGA remains one united and indivisible family, committed to progress and development.

Abeke urged the newly elected ward executives to carry all members along in the spirit of inclusiveness and teamwork, emphasizing that collective effort remains key to the continued growth and success of the party in the local government area.

Others that monitored the excise were,  Mr. Ovoke Omagbemi, representative of the Delta State APC Chairman, INEC representatives, State APC representative , security agencies amongst others.

Ighowhemu Sets To Train Youths On Fashion Design,Hair Styling Skills To Mark Birthday Of Esiso

As part of the activities to mark the birthday celebration of Olorogun Barr. Kingsley Esiso, PhD, Special Assistant to His Excellency Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State, on Youth Mobilization, Hon. Ighowhemu Oghenerukevwe has rolled out plans to empower youth through skill acquisition training programs.

Ighowhemu during an interview session with newsmen said that the training program is focused on fashion & design as well as hair styling.

"Wednesday, February 4th is the birthday of my Political leader & daddy, Olorogun Barr. Kingsley Esiso PhD and to celebrate his birthday, I want to train youths who are interested in learning fashion & design or hair styling.

Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke has been officially inaugurated as Coordinator of OSU Political Forum on Sunday, February 1st, 2026.

The event was held at the Sapele local government Secretariat and has in attendance APC political big wigs among whom are Senator Ede Dafinone, Senator representing Delta Central Senatoral district, Olorugun Kingsley Esiso, APC patron, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, Hon. Perkins Umukoro, Chief Whip, Delta State House of Assembly,  Mr. Ejiro Jamani, Commissioner for Environment, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, National Coordinator of OSU Federal Constituency, Mr. Austin Ayemidejor, Hon Isaiah Onoriode Esiovwa, Chief Mrs Rose Ezewu, Chief James Augoye, Chief Cyril Ogodo and others. 

Accepting the position of the Coordinator of OSU, Sapele Chapter, Hon. Bright Abeke thanked the gathering for the confidence they have on him for the position and promised that Sapele will not disappoint Governor Sheriff Oborewori, nor President Tinubu , APC and the OSU federal constituency come 2027 election.
Abeke rounded up his acceptance speech by adding that with the support of all present and residents of Sapele local government area, APC will   move on and conquer.
