Community Of Ogodio -Axis, Abraka Raises Alarm Over Condemmed -Iron Thieves

By Rita Daniel

The Ogodio-Axis community in Abraka, Delta State, has once again been thrown into fear following another reported act of theft by suspected Hausa boys. The incident began when some youths who were allegedly picking condemned iron in the area entered a private house inside the community, with the intention of stealing.

This incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, 7th May. A neighbour who lives close to the mansion belonging to Mr. Raphael Uwanoghor, a respected and hardworking Urhuvie indigene based in the United Kingdom, raised the alarm after noticing suspicious movements within the building. The neighbour reported that the boys were inside the mansion even though it was said to be locked.

On hearing the alarm, members of the community quickly rushed to the scene. The suspected thief was apprehended and immediately taken to the Abraka Police Station for further investigation. Community members described the situation as disturbing, especially because the theft attempt happened under tight security conditions around a well-known resident.
According to the confession made by the arrested suspect, two people were involved in the act. He alleged that the second accomplice was hiding inside the ceiling of the house, waiting for an opportunity to strike and escape with stolen items.

Efforts to remove the second suspect from the ceiling reportedly failed for some time. However, after further investigation, it was discovered that the suspect escaped through the roof. In the process, he destroyed portions of the pop ceiling and damaged the expensive roofing sheet, leaving the building with significant harm.

Reacting to the incident, indigenes of Urhuvie Abraka appealed for stronger government action to address the menace. They called on the Delta State government and relevant security agencies to chase away such offenders and prevent a repeat of similar incidents across communities.

The community further expressed concern that these activities do not only cause financial losses to residents, but also destroy properties meant for development. They alleged that the group has been involved in destroying newly built houses and stealing electrical wiring from houses that are still under development.

There were also claims by residents that in some occasions, the suspects have been caught with heads of little children. They urged the authorities to treat the issue with seriousness and implement measures that will curb the recurring criminal behaviour and protect community members.

Sapele Stood Still As APC Political Movement, Rally to Promote Inclusivity And Stopping Of Marginalization.

The Sapele Political Movement for Tinubu and Sheriff 2027, led by Okakuro Austin Arieja and Coordinator, Hon. Goodluck Arimitan, today, 1st May 2026, rally round major streets in Sapele to sensitize the public of the need to  support our performing Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the inclusive Governor of Delta State, and stopping of marginalisation.

The Political pressure movement is  a foremost political pressure group in Sapele Local Government Area comprises both indigenes and non-indigenes and are on a mission to promote governance of inclusivity and stopping the marginalization of active grassroots political actors who have over the years, been responsible for the serial electorial victories that brought major political players within Sapele Local Government Area.

The rally was tagged 𝙏𝙃𝙀 π™ˆπ™Šπ™π™ƒπ™€π™ π™Šπ™ π˜Όπ™‡π™‡ π™π˜Όπ™‡π™‡π™„π™€π™Ž   to demonstrate their grassroots strength and capacity as APC faithfuls from all eleven (11) wards in Sapele local government area and others were in attendance.

Speaking to the mammoth Crowd that gathered, the leader of the group, Okakuro Austin Arieja said the rally is first and foremost aimed at calling on all to support the performing and inclusive Governor of Delta State, Rt.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori come 2027 election, for evidence of his performance are everywhere in the state and there are more to come as the day go by.

Arieja equally called on all to prepare to vote well in the forth coming elections as elections are won by votes cast by those in the grassroot which they belong.
He said , very soon, those intending to contest for one position and the other will begin to move from ward to ward to ask for your votes, --- Vote well for your votes will surely be counted and your votes will determine who wins election in Sapele local government area, Delta State and the Nation at large.

Okakuro Arieja further said this movement is not about One(1) person but about all in Sapele local government area. The days where political offices are rotated among  only a few in the local government is over, we are going to vote in only people that can deliver political dividends to the people of Sapele local government area . We have ONLY ONE" OGA"  in the State, and that Oga is Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, so when the time comes for picking persons to fill political offices from Sapele in Delta State, it will go round capable hands and not just from a few individuals.

Arieja pointed out that the movement is about looking into the politics of Sapele local government area, and changing the narratives, hinting that members of the movement are grassroot mobilizers but when it comes to decision making in the local government, they are cut off by some cabals, and this is what the movement is out to put a stop to because after campaigning and making promises to those at the grassroots, they are not able to fulfill these promises as they are cut off from decision making arena.

Political appointments from the state to Sapele local government area should not just be decided by a few in Sapele, this narrative should change, and there is no reason why federal appointments cannot come to any one in Sapele local government area, these and many others are what the movement is out for -- He said.

The Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Arimitan Goodluck added his voice to the yearnings of the group by saying that the political impunity in the local government should stop.
He pointed out that he is from ward 4 in the local government and that incidentally is the ward of the local government Chairman but when congress was to be held, he was never considered to pick any delegate, whereas he is one person that is responsible for electoral victories in that ward being a Man at the grassroot, and that he had never been considered over the years for any political appointment until the present governor fished him out and gave him an appointment as an Executive assistant to the Governor.

Goodluck said, this scenario is same with many in the movement, and they are out to put a stop to it.
The struggle is about the people, it is about liberation and opening of the political horizon of Sapele local government.
